It is always amazing how well the Cubans manage to pack the brand character of their premium cigars into these small short fillers! For those who don't want to cut up the long Toscano "roots" themselves, this short version of the "Classico" is the best choice. Just under half an hour of spicy smoking pleasure is in here - goes just as well with an espresso as it does with a beer.

Unlike the other Toscanellos - which are also considerably lighter - this original version is not flavoured, but delights with the unadulterated, woody-spicy-roasty taste of fire-cured Kentucky tobacco. These medium-strong, amazingly multi-layered little things offer a high flavour density thanks to the small diameter, without ever biting. If we weren't a little suspicious of this strange advertising jargon, we would write: "This is how cigarillos work! In keeping with the excellent tobacco quality, the „Clubs“ come in a beautiful packaging design, complete with a hat head.

Der Name mag ein schwarzer Schimmel sein, zeichnen sich Türme doch gemeinhin eher durch Höhe als durch Dicke aus – das Raucherlebnis von 45 – 60 Minuten ist stimmig! Namengebend für die Serie ist übrigens nicht der US-Bundesstaat, sondern die mittelbraune Deckblattfarbe.

Hohe Geschmacksdichte bei wohliger Rauchkonsistenz – dafür steht diese liebenswerte Gordito. Die Holzaromatik kommt hier etwas dunkler daher als bei den anderen Formaten, der Röstgeschmack – vor allem zu Beginn – noch markanter. Bald aber entfaltet die Zigarre mit super-cremigem Rauch und weichen Erd-, Nuss- und Cappuccino-Aromen ihren ganzen Charme. Die Stärke liegt durchwegs im mittleren Bereich; die feine Süße ist relativ deutlich ausgeprägt und nimmt im Verlauf untypischerweise noch ein bisschen zu. A smooth, palate-pleasing cigar that won't overwhelm anyone, but also offers enough intensity and variety for experienced smokers! Light nuts and buttered toast, freshly turned hay and finely spiced garden herbs, a hint of earth and in the second half also a cautious reach into the spice box - the excellently balanced play of aromas has several pleasant facets in store, and the usual transition from sweet to somewhat spicier tones takes place here with exemplary subtlety. In the end, wood and coffee notes predominate. A real PLV champion!

With this imposing Gordo, Ashton already spoiled the fans of "thick things" in a time when they were not yet quite so trendy. The six-incher in the beautiful Sungrown wrapper burns for about 80 - 95 minutes.

Master Carlito has not really "toned down" the blend for this double toro - a classic heavy evening cigar, only VERY conditionally recommended for beginners. Those who like it strong and full-bodied will be delighted with this excellent tobacco at a really fair price, because the "Wizard" exudes the magical taste of roasted nuts, best coffee, tropical woods and very dark chocolate from the first puff, underlaid with a flattering sweetness that sometimes reminds one of dried figs. Quite strong from the start, but doesn't tighten much as it progresses and retains its great creaminess until put down.

As small as this distinctive cigar may be for about 30 - 40 minutes - it is in every respect a genuine Fuente of the classic series, completely handmade and with excellent Cameroon wrapper of the Meerapfel family in the dark variety.

Flavour

So little diameter, so much flavour! The medium-bodied small format delights with plenty of bittersweet cocoa flavour, malty earthy notes, elegant hints of tart freshness and coffee bean scent throughout. The smoke consistency is not a whit less silky than the thicker AF formats - a real masterpiece of the torcedores! And even at a length of only 10.5 cm, there is an aroma development - peat and roasted notes become steadily more concise without losing the delicate sweetness. Also interesting for fans of the "Anejo" series who are looking for a very small format!

Worth knowing

Down-to-earth and hearty like the people from the surroundings of brick factories and workers' houses - such is the image of this inexpensive but enjoyable brand! The dark version of the six-incher with approx. 70 - 85 minutes of smoking time is no exception.

What a delicious, typical Maduro for this price! The permanent chocolate note changes in the course of the smoke from full milk to plain; the solid scent of dark woods, however, remains constant, as does the noticeable milk coffee creaminess with a nutty touch (almond). The pleasantly broad spectrum is complemented by cinnamon-spicy spicy notes. In the second half, earthy facets increasingly come to the fore. The sweetness of the medium-strong smoke is discreet, but lasts until the finish. In the finish, its spiciness becomes a little more prominent without overpowering the balanced flavour.

Good friends share (almost) everything - this classic Italian dry cigar, for example, each half of which burns for almost half an hour. Medium-bodied and thus considerably lighter than its slightly higher-priced sisters - full-bodied everyday smoke!

Not only is the box lighter in colour than the other versions, the aroma is also "lighter in tone" - less heavy, earthy and toasty, but with more cedary and also leathery notes, a little sweeter, plus definitely blessed with a hint of fruity-ethereal acidity. Of course, these Toscanos are also intensely spicy and overall rather fine-tart-piquant, but noticeably more everyday and beginner-friendly than their quite nicotine-rich and unifying sisters. Flawless, smooth burning tobacco with a special note!

With its particularly long-matured Kentucky wrapper, this "root" embodies rather the softer side of the new flagship series from Italy. Yet it embodies all the trademarks of the cult cigars from the boot for approx. 2x35 minutes.

It's amazing how well this cigar manages the balancing act between intense flavour and a pleasantly smooth smoking sensation! By far the lightest "Master Aged", No. 2 nevertheless brings the full aroma of the blend to the palate. The noble toast and smoked notes with their subliminal, dark beer-like maltiness even come to the fore particularly well, while the sweetish facets - generally more present in the long-fillers than in the standard Toscanos anyway - are most prominent here. Mouth-filling, with a cornucopia of vegetal facets and amazingly "umami".

Eine tolle Ergänzung zum Premium-Sortiment sind die handgerollten „Primeros“-Shortfiller aus bestem Tabak. Die leichte dominikanische Variante glänzt mit feinwürzigen Aromen und brennt ca. 20 – 25 Minuten.

The longer format of particularly slim cigarillos is one of the traditional classics in the world of tobacco. And you can hardly enjoy a small amount of excellent tobacco in more style than with these great "clubs"!

As with premium cigars, the rule of thumb for cigarillos is: the thinner, the more intense. Nevertheless, these little smokes are absolutely not biting or harsh. Rather, they bring across the brand's typical leading aromas - coffee beans, cocoa, spices, a little earth - so clearly that they are instantly recognisable as Montes! Because of their characteristic flavour, they go better than almost any other cigarillo with a double espresso - but also with a fine cognac.
